I am an accredited mental health social worker and clinical hypnotherapist with over 6 years of experience providing one-on-one therapy to adolescents and adults. I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science, a Master of Social Work, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counselling. Additionally, I have completed a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

What is an accredited mental health social worker?

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) play a pivotal role in mental health care, akin to psychologists. However, they offer a distinctive perspective by adopting a broader outlook on individuals, delving into the various systems and influences that shape intricate interconnections.

AMHSWs are clinical practitioners with a specialised background in clinical social work, with additional training in mental health to be able to provide psychological therapy. Clinical Social Workers are eligible to provide Medicare rebates. They are equipped with evidence based psychological therapeutic approaches and require ongoing professional training and supervision to maintain their registration.

Mental Health Social Workers excel in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders. Their approach focuses not only psychological factors but also the identification and resolution of external stressors and systemic factors affecting the individual.
