Schema therapy is an integrative approach combining elements of behavioural, attachment, and psychodynamic therapies to treat chronic mental health issues. It focuses on identifying and changing deeply ingrained patterns, or schemas, that develop during childhood and are reinforced throughout life.
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a structured, short-term therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours. It is effective for treating a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and stress.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. It involves using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to reduce the emotional intensity of painful memories, allowing individuals to reframe their experiences.
Exposure Response Prevention is a form of cognitive-behavioural therapy that gradually exposes individuals to feared situations while preventing their usual compulsive responses, effectively treating conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Acceptance and commitment therapy encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them, using mindfulness and commitment strategies to enhance psychological flexibility and pursue meaningful life goals.
Narrative therapy centres on the stories individuals tell about their lives, helping them reframe and rewrite these narratives. This therapeutic approach fosters a deeper understanding of the self to break free from unhelpful patterns and envision a positive future.
Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness, helping individuals access their subconscious to change unwanted behaviours and manage conditions like anxiety and chronic pain.
Motivational Interviewing is a client-centred counselling approach designed to enhance motivation and commitment to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. It is particularly effective in addressing addiction, and health behaviour changes.
Cognitive processing therapy employs structured techniques to help individuals re-evaluate and reshape negative thought patterns and beliefs associated with trauma. By fostering awareness and encouraging cognitive restructuring, CPT enables clients to process distressing memories and develop healthier coping strategies.
